FAQ

  1. What is Health Partners? Northeast Georgia Health Partners (NGHP) is a preferred provider organization (PPO) based in Gainesville, Georgia. NGHP is unique in that the network is the result of the combined efforts of community based physicians and hospitals in the area.
  2. Why choose Health Partners? NGHP brings a fresh perspective to the challenges of rising costs and hassles of healthcare. A partnership with NGHP provides an employer access to high quality, competitively-priced healthcare. NGHP offers "one-stop" contracting for access to a statewide network of physicians and hospitals. Additionally, NGHP offers a variety of ancillary services such as Disease Management and Pharmacy Benefit Management designed to reduce healthcare costs.
  3. Is Health Partners an insurance company? No. NGHP is not an insurance company. We do not administer or re-price insurance claims. Simply stated, NGHP is a PPO network which arranges for the delivery of healthcare services in its local communities. Help is available however, for those customers that need assistance with their insurance programs. NGHP has preferred relationships with third party administrators (TPA) and other resources to offer a "turn-key" program for employers.
  4. How can I find out if a doctor or hospital is participating in the Health Partners PPO network? The NGHP web-site has a current listing of our participating providers and facilities, or you can call member services at 770-219-6600.
  5. What products does Health Partners offer? Health Partners has four basic insurance partnerships Health Partners Plus (HPP) for self insured employers, Health Partners Community Advantage (HPCA) through Consumers Life Insurance Company (CLIC) for fully insured employers, and now, as of Spring 2009, HMO and/or POS products through Athens Area Health Plan Select (AAHPS) and Alliant Health Plans (AHP).
  6. Are there a minimum number of employees per group required to access Health Partners products? No. We have products available for individuals and for groups with two or more employees. 
  7. Does Health Partners allow third party administrators (TPA's) to re-price claims? Yes. NGHP prefers to let third party administrators do what they do best, re-price and pay claims. HP does not re-price claims for its customers.
  8. Does Health Partners have physician and hospital coverage outside of their service area? Yes. Through affiliate network relationships, NGHP has access to more than 14,000 physicians and 140 hospitals in the State. We also offer support by providing national access to Beech Street PPO for members that reside outside of Georgia. Health Partners primary goal is to offer employers and third party administrators 'the complete network solution'. That is, a single source for all provider services needed on a local and regional basis to support the typical employee benefit plan. The Health Partners network is commonly combined with our affiliate network, SuperMed Network (formerly known as 1st Medical Network), for expanded state-wide coverage or it can be combined with other PPO networks depending upon the unique need of the health plan.
