Rights and Responsibilities

As a member of Northeast Georgia Health Partners, you assume the following rights and responsibilities.

You have the right to:

  • Be treated with respect, and recognition of personal dignity, and right to privacy.
  • Confidentiality regarding medical and personal information. Access to information is restricted to individuals who    need to know for your medical care, and for quality management and improvement purposes.
  • Receive high quality service in a prompt, efficient manner.
  • Receive high quality care from a credentialed provider that meets the quality standards of Health Partners.
  • Receive information about the Health Partners organization, its services, its practitioners and providers, and your rights and responsibilities as a member. A Provider Directory, that includes a listing of all in-network plan providers, is made available through your employer.
  • Receive an explanation as to how to obtain primary care, specialty care, after hours care, and emergency care.
  • Voice complaints, concerns, or grievances about the organization or care provided.
  • Receive a timely response to a reported grievance.
  • Make a choice about which provider in the Health Partners network you will use for medical care, and change providers for any reason.
  • Participate with your practitioner in decision making regarding your health care, to be fully informed about your medical condition, and to receive complete information about medically necessary treatment options, regardless of cost or benefit coverage.      
  • Refuse treatment, and to be advised by your practitioner of the medical consequences.


You have the responsibility to:

  • Provide complete, current information, to the best of your ability, in order for the Health Partners organization and its practitioners and providers to be able to provide quality care to you.   
  • Take an active part in your health care, maintaining good health habits, participating in decision making regarding your health care with your physician, and following the plans and instructions for care agreed upon with your physician   
  • Make sure the Health Partners staff are aware of any concerns or grievances you may have so that the internal grievance process can be initiated to address the situation.  
  • Keep scheduled appointments or give adequate notice of delay or cancellation.
  • Treat all network physicians and personnel respectfully and courteously as partners in good health care.
